AC-T: Asheville city workers get 2 percent raise with no tax increase
"The city’s more than 1,000 workers will get a 2 percent raise with the possibility of another 1 percent or a one-time bonus, City Council members said late Tuesday night.

Council members voted unanimously to give the workers a bigger raise than the 1 percent that had been initially proposed more than a month earlier.

The 6-0 vote amounted to a compromise between council members who wanted to give a 3 percent raise and those who pushed for 2 percent plus a one-time bonus if November audit figures showed the city had enough money.

The raises were part of a $137 million budget passed by the council with no tax increase."
