ASHEVILLE – On Thursday, 03-08-12, at approx. 1:55 am, Officers from the Asheville Police Department responded to an alarm at the Citgo located at 217 Amboy Road in West Asheville. As Officer Chad McCall approached the business he encountered 41 year old Ronald NMN Spencer wearing a ski mask and gloves carrying a red duffle bag. Officer McCall detained Spencer long enough for other responding officers to confirm the business had been broken into.
A search of the duffle bag revealed more that $1000 dollars worth of cigarettes and other tobacco products. Also located inside the bag was $19.50 in rolled coins. Mr. Spencer had used a vehicle anti-theft device called the "club" to smash the front door glass of the business.
Mr. Spencer was placed under arrest and transported to the Buncombe County Detention Facility where he was charged with Breaking and Entering, Larceny after B & E, and Poss. of Burglary Tools. He is currently being held on a $15,000 dollar secure bond.
