Asheville Living Treasures seeks nominations for its May 2012 honoring ceremony
Here's the press release from Asheville Living Treasures:
Asheville Living Treasures was founded to recognize and publicly honor those seniors of Asheville, and Buncombe County, who have devoted their lives to making their community a better place to live. In 2011 – the organization’s inaugural year – seven Living Treasures were honored, during two ceremonies. More than 120 attended. The organization is now accepting nominations for its spring 2012 honoring ceremony which will be held in May. Three living treasures will be honored. As part of the recognition, all treasures are photographed and interviewed and an oral history is prepared. The Ramsey Library of UNC, Asheville, has agreed to be the repository of all oral histories.
Buncombe County residents 70 years or older are eligible for nomination. Submissions will be accepted through March 15, 2012. Submissions should include reasons for the nomination, including the nominee’s background and record of service. Information is available on the organization’s website at
