Asheville on Bikes Presents Sixth Annual Pumpkin Pedaller
Newly Expanded Community Bike Ride Enjoys Higher Profile,
Welcomes New Community Partners
Asheville, NC, October 22, 2012 -- Asheville on Bikes announces its sixth annual Pumpkin Pedaller, to be held on Saturday, October 27, beginning at 3:00PM. The Pumpkin Pedaller, a hallmark of the fall season in Asheville, is a celebration of all the things that make our city a nationally-recognized Bike Friendly Community, as recently named by the League of American Bicyclists.
The ride meanders throughout Asheville at a rolling social pace and is designed to encourage cyclists of all ages and skill levels to participate. Costumes are customary but not required. The route includes much of downtown, several north Asheville neighborhoods, and the River Arts District. Coinciding with Moogfest, this festive event is truly an Asheville institution.
With special permission from the Buncombe County, this year’s route includes a stop at the top of the City-County parking deck, where Asheville on Bikes partners with The Van Winkle Law Firm to host the annual costume contest. Prizes are twenty-five dollar gift certificates provided by the Western North Carolina Bike Dealers Association, good for use at area bike shops.
The Pumpkin Pedaller beings at 3:00PM at Pack Square Park in front of City Hall and culminates at the Wedge Brewery in the River Arts District at 5:30PM. There, beverages, music, outdoor dance and games, and eats from the El Kimchi food truck take the event into the evening. Details, including a turn-by-turn map of the route, can be found on Asheville on Bikes’ facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/AVLonBikes.
