BBB announces results of “Secure Your ID” (Shred Day)
Here's the press release from the Better Business Bureau:

Asheville, NC – September 11, 2012 – 215 vehicles descended on the Asheville, North Carolina site Saturday, September 8, all filled with boxes and bags of sensitive documents to be shredded free of charge during Better Business Bureau’s Shred Day community service event. A tremendous success, BBB saw consumers and small business owners from Western North Carolina deliver more than 6,000 lbs of materials for safe, responsible destruction. Co-sponsors for the event were American Security Shredding and OnTrack Financial Education and Counseling.

“For five consecutive years now, BBB has provided identity theft prevention solutions for consumers and business owners with easy-to-use services and programs like BBB ‘Secure Your ID’ Day” (Shred Day), said Norma Messer, President of the Better Business Bureau Serving Asheville and Western North Carolina. “None of us can afford to take a passive approach to identity theft – the issue requires action.”

Education is one of the most important ways BBB works toward building trust in today’s marketplace. BBB’s “Secure Your ID” Day is a great way for consumers and small businesses alike to take a key step in identity protection.
