Buncombe Forward withdraws endorsement of Glenda Weinert for commission chair
BUNCOMBE FORWARD WITHDRAWS ENDORSEMENT OF GLENDA WEINERT FOR BUNCOMBE COUNTY COMMISSIONER

Buncombe County, North Carolina - Buncombe Forward's Board of Directors has withdrawn its endorsement of Glenda Weinert, candidate for Chair of the Board of Buncombe County Commissioners.

Ms. Weinert's recent public statements against the repeal of the 1/4% sales tax increase is in direct contradiction to the clear and public position for the repeal that she took during our interview process. Buncombe Forward's position is unequivocally in favor of repeal. It is our position that the current County Commission inappropriately used a sales tax referendum in a municipal election year for the purpose of thwarting the will of the people of Buncombe County.

It is the intention of Buncombe Forward to recommend only those candidates who are steadfast in their positions and promises. Because Ms. Weinert has flip-flopped on this very important issue, Buncombe Forward is compelled to withdraw our endorsement.

About Buncombe Forward:

Buncombe Forward is a non-partisan political action committee organized to recruit, train, and elect local candidates supportive of free-market economic prosperity, private property rights, educational choice, and sensible protection of the environment.
