Cheap gas! in NewsRadio570 deal, 100 Asheville drivers will get $1.84/gallon gas Friday, Oct. 5

Press release

from News Radio 570 WWNC (Clear Channel)

NewsRadio 570 WWNC and Gas Can Man are cutting the price of gasoline to the January 2009 price of $1.84 at 7 a.m. Friday, Oct. 5, for 100 lucky drivers at a gas station location in Asheville. The specific location of the gas station where the “Gas We Can” promotion will take place will be announced during the Morning Report on WWNC Friday morning live on the air and the gas will start flowing shortly after 7 am with
WWNC afternoon host Pete Kaliner on site to help pump the gas.

“High gas prices have been one of the main topics of concern that our listeners have expressed in the last few months and we are going to do something about it for one morning for 100 of our neighbors,” NewsRadio 570 WWNC afternoon host Pete Kaliner said in announcing the price roll-back. “While Washington argues about billions and trillions of dollars they need to remember that the $60 or so many people are now paying to fill up their tanks is about double what it was just a few years ago -- and that extra $30 or more each week is REAL money that has a serious impact on our families and our economy.”

The first 100 drivers who arrive at the location after the announcement Friday morning will have the opportunity to purchase a maximum of 15 gallons of regular unleaded fuel at the “rollback” price of $1.84. Pete Kaliner will be on site throughout the morning along with Gas Can Man, who is co-hosting the event.
