City calls for bids on Craven Street infrastructure improvements related to New Belgium project
Roadway widening for bike lanes and sidewalks, a greenway and a low-impact development parking lot — the city of Asheville is calling for landscape architects and/or civil engineers to submit bids for infrastructure improvements on Craven Street. The project is related to plans for craft brewer New Belgium to build its new East Coast facility on Craven Street:

The City of Asheville is requesting proposals from design professionals to design, permit and provide construction management services for infrastructure improvements on Craven Street. North Carolina Registered Landscape Architects and/or Civil Engineers are invited to submit proposals for the project on or before April 25, 2012.

The scope of the project includes storm water quality improvements to include wetlands, stream mitigation, roadway widening to include bike lanes and sidewalks, greenway, off-site intersection improvements and a low impact development parking lot.

The schedule for this project is expedited. A mandatory pre-submittal meeting will be held on April 17, 2012 at 9 AM in the U.S. Cellular Center Asheville at 87 Haywood Street, Asheville, North Carolina. Proposals are due April 25, 2012 before 5 p.m. Proposals should be submitted to Cathy Ball, PE, City of Asheville Public Works Director, at 161 South Charlotte Street, Asheville, NC 28801.
