“Costume Drama: A Fashion Show” needs designers
Asheville Community Theatre, known for staging theatrical dramas and comedies, is producing something a little different: "Costume Drama: A Fashion Show." According to a press release, it "will feature wearable garments created from one of four categories of materials: feathers, floral, tape, or paper." And here's the best part: ACT is putting out a call to local artists and designers to enter apparel in those categories.

"Costume Drama: A Fashion Show" takes place on Monday, July 9 as part of DramaRama (http://www.ashevilletheatre.org/?page_id=2344) "a week-long fundraising party for the theatre." The fashion show will be held at the Renaissance Hotel.

Entry forms (with a $25 entry fee) are accepted through Friday, June 1. The official rules are available on the ACT website and include: "Designers will be assigned to their first choice in Design Category (Feathers, Paper, Tape, Floral) based on availability. No more than 15 designers will compete in each category;" "Design Category material must be the main feature of the design. Supporting materials for designs must be well concealed, and can include the following: tape, glue, wire, mesh, plastic, elastic, fabric, tulle, thread, ribbon;" and "Cash prizes are awarded as follows: Overall Winner – Best in Show: $500; Category Winners: $250. Overall Winner will win their category, but will only receive a cash prize for Overall."
