A PERIOD OF HEAVY RAINFALL WILL AFFECT THE WESTERN CAROLINAS
THIS AFTERNOON THROUGH TONIGHT...

.A STORM SYSTEM WILL MOVE NORTHEAST OUT OF THE NORTHERN GULF OF
MEXICO TODAY AND BEGIN SPREADING WIDESPREAD SHOWERS AND POSSIBLY A
FEW THUNDERSTORMS ACROSS THE FORECAST AREA. THE SOUTH FACING BLUE
RIDGE ESCARPMENT OF NORTH CAROLINA...SOUTH CAROLINA AND NORTHEAST
GEORGIA WILL EXPERIENCE THE HIGHEST AMOUNTS OF RAINFALL THROUGH
TUESDAY MORNING. AREAS TO THE NORTH UP THROUGH THE NORTHERN
MOUNTAINS OF NORTH CAROLINA WILL ALSO EXPERIENCE RATHER HIGH
RAINFALL AMOUNTS ACROSS EASTERN FACING SLOPES. RAINFALL TOTALS
WILL BE AROUND 2 TO 3 INCHES WITH LOCALLY HIGHER
AMOUNTS...POSSIBLY CREATING AREAS OF FLASH FLOODING ACROSS THE
WATCH AREA.
