Hall-Fletcher Elementary to give students books donated by Yale Alumni group
Full announcement below:

Hall-Fletcher Elementary School will put into the hands of its K-5 students free books donated by members of the Western North Carolina Yale Alumni Association. The public event will take place at the school at 12 noon, Thursday, December 6.

Attending the event will be three of the four major donors novelists Elizabeth Kostova and David Madden, and Connor Fay, chair the Yale Alumni Hall-Fletcher support group. Unable to attend is another donor Bill McAnninch.

“Hall-Fletcher Elementary is indeed fortunate to have the support of Asheville area Yale Alumni for several major projects, one of which is the on-going free book distribution program,” said
Principal Dr. Gordon Grant. “We look eagerly forward to seeing the faces of our students as they select their free books from the over 400 that have been gathered.” The four key donors haunted library book sales throughout the region over the past year, buying books at special discounts granted by the libraries. “While students will go home with most of the books, there are titles that books have been added to the permanent library,” said librarian Beverly McBrayer. “Books that do not fall within the K-5 range will be donated to other institutions in need of books.”As novelists, Elizabeth Kostova and I hope to see more writers get in involved in projects that help our schools, especially those, like Hall-Fletcher, that have relatively under-funded libraries,” said David Madden of Black Mountain.

Parents of the students and the public at large are welcome to attend this event. The school is located in West Asheville at 60 Ridgelawn Road.
