McHenry praises BCGOP chair Mitchell, asks for help against Keever
Here's the text of a letter recently written by 10th District Republican Rep. Patrick McHenry to Buncombe County Republican Party Chair Henry Mitchell. Mitchell forwarded it along to Xpress for publication:
Now that the primary is behind us, I wanted to take a moment to write a quick note to thank you for everything you have done for my campaign and for the Republican Party in Buncombe County. The transition under redistricting has been seamless, thanks to your help. You have introduced me and my team to many of the key leaders we need to know in the county and helped me learn the ropes of Buncombe County politics.
Just a few months ago, I was happy to speak at one of the most successful Reagan Day Dinners I’ve ever been a part of. Raising over $10,000 is no simple feat, especially in this economy! I am truly impressed by the initiatives you and your team have undertaken: a highly organized precinct-level operation, postcards mailed to newly registered Republicans, and a door to door canvass that successfully spread the word about redistricting throughout the county. You definitely have a level of organization and creativity that should be emulated by other counties.
Now the real fight begins and we look toward the General Election. I don’t have to tell you the values that Patsy Keever holds; you know her better than anyone! I’ll be relying on your team more than ever to turn out the vote so we can outperform what anyone expects us to be capable of in Buncombe County. I have every confidence that you, along with the support of your stellar Executive Committee, will do that.
Thanks and God bless,
