SKYLAND - Representative Tim Moffitt (R - Buncombe) received praise from North Carolina Secretary of Commerce Keith Crisco for his efforts regarding job creation and business recruitment to Buncombe County.
Crisco specifically referenced Moffitt’s legislative and statutory work regarding Sierra Nevada and New Belgium.
“Representative Tim Moffitt was instrumental in bringing Sierra Nevada and New Belgium to Western North Carolina. Not only did he sponsor the legislation making the necessary statutory changes, he secured infrastructure funding that was vital to the project,” Crisco said.
Moffitt authored H.B. 796 in early 2012, which expanded the brewing capacity of larger scale breweries so they can manufacture and engage in retail at the same location. For more information regarding Moffitt’s legislation, click here.
“I’m very grateful to have worked with Secretary Crisco and many others on local and state levels and am glad this will have a positive economic impact for us all here locally,” Moffitt said. “I thank Secretary Crisco for his kind words.”
Crisco was appointed commerce secretary by Governor Beverly Perdue in January 2009. The N.C. Department of Commerce is the state's leading economic-development agency, working with local, regional, national and international companies. The department’s mission is to improve the economic well-being and quality of life for all North Carolinians.
