In Pennsylvania, Republicans are openly crowing that their Voter ID law will deliver the state to Romney. The veils of democracy fall away, to reveal a fist… http://thinkprogress.org/election/2012/06/25/505953/pennsylvania-republican-voter-id-laws-are-gonna-allow-governor-romney-to-win/ |

Romney will win Penn either way. |

“Romney will win Penn either way.” Nice deflection, but the Republican Leader of Penn’s House apparently disagrees: “Voter ID, which is gonna allow Governor Romney to win the state of Pennsylvania, done.” “Allow”? “Allow”? They obviously feel that the only they can guarantee that a Republican can carry the state is if they pass a law making it harder for 750,000 Democratic-leaning eligible voters to cast their votes: http://thinkprogress.org/justice/2012/07/05/511205/over-750000-pennsylvanians-could-be-disenfranchised-by-voter-id-law/ Or in Texas, where their Voter ID law allows a gun license to serve as ID, but not Social Security, Medicaid, or student ID cards. Gosh, how do you suppose that demographic breaks down by political party? http://thinkprogress.org/election/2012/07/06/512245/texas-voter-id-law-which-accepts-gun-licenses-but-not-student-ids-challenged-in-court/ Or in Mississippi, where they crafted a nice little Catch 22 into their Voter ID law: “One of the requirements to get the free voter ID cards is a birth certificate, but in order to receive a certified copy of your birth certificate in Mississippi, you must have a photo ID.” Wow, that certainly couldn’t have been deliberate, could it? http://thinkprogress.org/justice/2012/07/06/511716/to-get-voter-id-mississippi-voters-need-birth-certificate-to-get-birth-certificate-they-need-id/ Remember, Obama only carried North Carolina by 14,000 votes. And Bush only won in 2000 because his brother the Governor of Florida prevented thousands of eligible voters from casting their votes. Anyone who tries to deliberately prevent large blocks of American citizens from casting their votes is a traitor, plain and simple. They hate the principles this country is founded upon. |

Deflection? Barry, you assume FAR too much, far too often. I’m not defending voter ID laws, and nothing in my statement could be construed that way without some predetermined assumptions coming into play. I’m merely stating that Penn. is FAR too white and blue collar and Republican to vote for Obama. Thems the facts, barry my boy. |

Obama carried Penn with 621,000 votes in 2008. How many legitimate cases of “voter fraud” will be stopped by Voter ID? Few, if any. The real goal is keeping hundreds of thousands of legitimate poor, minority, disabled, student, or senior voters away from the polls. |

Obama won by a measly few hundred thousand votes. Hillary won the nomination from the state. Far fewer dems are motivated to go to the poles this year. Can you really not do the math? |

So, “legitimate poor, minority, disabled, student, or senior voters” are all democrat? How can you possibly live without having some form of photo I.D.? Why is it such an issue to prove you are who you say you are? Would thumb printing be a better solution? I’m guessing that would be an issue of privacy cause it would hinder rapists, murders and what not a chance to vote. I recently bought a new car, guess whats the first thing they asked for. So ” legitimate poor, minority, disabled, student, or senior voters” can’t buy cars either? I’m a paramedic and recently treated a 30 something y.o. male for chest pains. When I asked his name, date of birth and what not to get him in the system to be treated, he confidently told me everything I asked. Cool, no problem. Half way to the ER he says, I can’t do that man, that’s my grandpa’s name and social security number. He wanted Medicare to pay his bill. Maybe he had a come to Jesus meeting in his head and came fourth with the truth. I’m sure there are others who wouldn’t. I’ll gladly show my I.D. to vote. I’m not here to lie and cheat the system. |
