NC Outward Bound School brings trail race to WNC
Here's the press release:

NC OUTWARD BOUND SCHOOL BRINGS TRAIL RACE TO WNC

ASHEVILLE, NC - The North Carolina Outward Bound School (NCOBS) is hosting a new trail
running race series in 2012. It will be managed by the River Bound Trail Race Series, which
features some of the most scenic and challenging trails in the Southeastern United States.

The River Bound Trail Race Series started in Charlotte, NC two years ago and has been
voted The Best Trail Run in North Carolina in 2011 by Endurance Magazine. The inaugural
series of race events in Asheville will take place on the 430 acres of the North Carolina
Arboretum.

The series is designed to include a wide range of runners - from those wanting to try their first
ever 5K on a trail, to those interested in competing to win a challenging 10K trail race. The 2012
series consists of two races: a 5K or 8K race on Saturday, June 9th and a 5K or 10K race on
Saturday, October 6th. Runners will compete on the Arboretum’s beautiful trails, located just off
the scenic Blue Ridge Parkway.

“We're incredibly excited to bring this event to Western North Carolina. It was a huge success in
Charlotte, and we have such a robust running community here that it felt like a perfect fit to
bring the series to WNC. People in this area love to be active, love to be outdoors and are really
generous, so I'm excited to see this take off. We hope to see a large turnout from Asheville,
Hendersonville, Brevard, Black Mountain and surrounding areas."
Valery Leeper
NCOBS Asheville Advisory Board member

All proceeds from the Asheville races will support NC Outward Bound, including scholarships
for youth, teachers and veterans in the Asheville area.
