Rep. Patsy Keever takes stand against Ryan Budget
Here's the press release from the Patsy Keever campaign:

Rep. Patsy Keever takes stand against Ryan Budget

Raleigh, NC — Countering Republican Rep. Paul Ryan, who held a roundtable discussion at Big Ed’s restaurant in Raleigh on Tuesday, Patsy Keever took a strong stand against the Republican budget that bears Ryan’s name.

At a press conference just a few blocks away from the roundtable, Rep. Patsy Keever joined other Democrats in condemning Ryan’s budget.
“Rep. Ryan’s proposed budget would significantly shrink the safety net for our seniors by sharply reducing Medicare.” said Keever, “This could increase expenses for seniors by as much as $6,400 per year.”

“Furthermore the Republican budget would grant America’s wealthiest citizens at least $265,000 each in tax cuts while raising taxes on the middle class,” continued Keever. “In addition, this plan would preserve subsidies to big oil companies and would give further tax breaks to companies that ship jobs overseas. In contrast, federal cuts under the Ryan budget could result in the loss in as many as 65,000 jobs in North Carolina by the year 2017, which would be devastating to working people in our state.”

“It’s time for the wealthy and the well-connected to pay their fair share of taxes,” Keever concluded.

Rep. Patsy Keever (NC-115) is the Democratic candidate for the U.S. House of Representatives in North Carolina’s 10th Congressional District. Keever taught in the public schools for more than 25 years and served on the Buncombe County Board of Commissioners for 12 years. In 2010, Keever was elected to the North Carolina House of Representatives from NC District 115.
