Rumor Dept: Blogger reports anonymous tip that Philly “dumped” New Belgium bid
Jack Curtin's Liquid Diet blog has this, which he labels "shaky":
I received this text overnight from an anonymous source* who has not responded to my request for identification:

"Heard Philly city government passed on New Belgium. DUMPED IT to PiDc. Do your investigative stuff."

“PiDc” is the Philadelphia Industrial Development Corporation. I’m not quite clear on the context of “dumped it;” isn’t an industrial development group a logical place to consider a major new project?

While this may not be newsworthy, but rises to the notable due to local interest in having New Belgium build its East Coast facility in Asheville.

Thanks to N.C. beer-sleuth Win Bassett for the heads-up on this story.

I don’t understand why you would choose to print something as totally uncorroborated like this.  I want vetted news from Mountain Xpress, not twitter-quality innuendo.

3rd hand rumors talking about rumors, posted on an alt-weekly.

If this was true, it actually sounds bad for Asheville that New Belgium has submitted a bid to Philadelphia and they have passed it onto the development group.

“While this may not be newsworthy…”

Even if it was something more solid than worthless Twitter rumor-mongering, it still would not be newsworthy.
