Sections of AIDS Memorial Quilt to be displayed in Asheville

Press release

From WNCAP
WNCAP is pleased to announce that sections of the AIDS Memorial Quilt will be returning to Asheville for a week-long exhibit as part of our 2012 World AIDS Day commemoration. World AIDS Day takes place on December 1 each year and is a time when people all over the world recommit to focusing resources and attention on ending the AIDS epidemic. The AIDS Memorial Quilt is a 54 ton handmade tapestry that serves as a loving tribute to more than 94,000 lives lost to AIDS. The exhibit will take place in the Atrium of the Haywood Park Hotel, November 26 – December 3 from 10 am to 7 pm daily. WNCAP will provide age appropriate prevention education, as well as advocacy activities, alongside the exhibit, and local musicians will perform each day. On December 1st, also in the Atrium of the hotel, a candelight memorial vigil will take place from 7:00 – 9:00pm. All are welcome and the exhibit is free of charge.

We need volunteer daytime and early-evening Exhibit Hosts all week while the Quilt is on display. To learn more or schedule a shift, please contact Chris Winebrenner at wncapvolunteer@wncap.org.
