Smoky Mountain Sk8way offers naming rights
Full announcement from the Smoky Mountain Sk8way:

Smoky Mountain Sk8way is looking for a naming rights partner to rename the soon to be expanded Smoky Mountain Sk8way Sports and Entertainment Arena in exchange for revenue to help expand. The partnership offers to name the “newly expanded sk8way/arena” to include the company name in exchange for help with their expansion. The partnership is not just about a name change but comes with a mega list of other marketing benefits. This kind of naming rights arrangement has been widely used, especially over the last decade, and can even be found here in the mountains; The Asheville Civic Center sold naming rights in exchange for revenue to remodel and is now known as the Us Cellular Center, the Fun Depot located in Asheville received revenue from the city to rename it’s business to Asheville’s Fun Depot.

Smoky Mountain Sk8way, the local roller skating rink located on the bypass, has been providing fun and family entertainment to Western North Carolina since 2010 and is the home to two female flat track derby teams: Balsam Mountain Roller Girls and the Balsam Mountain Junior Roller Girls. The Sk8way plans to become a 20,000 square foot Arena, as well as, a Skating Rink and Family Entertainment Center which will be able to accommodate up to 2500 people and host community events like concerts, dances and haunted houses along with sporting events like roller derby bouts and roller hockey matches. The facility will offer regular weekly roller skating session just like always but on a much larger skating surface plus a cafe with outside accessibility, a climbing wall, a toddler area, mini golf and a pro shop along with an arcade and ticket redemption counter even the adults will drool over.

The purpose of offering Naming Rights to the public is to secure a partner to be the new Naming Rights Partner of Smoky Mountain Sk8way. For a business, this Naming Rights partnership can mean far more than just a traditional sponsorship; this partnership includes a valuable positive association with the people of Western North Carolina, product exclusivity, marketing, advertising, hospitality and promotional opportunities. The business that wins this partnership will not only benefit financially from providing exclusive products/services to the Arena's patrons, but will also have the opportunity to create a cost efficient method to advertise and market itself in the local market and throughout the region by renaming the rink to include a Company name. The diverse market demographic that will attend the future arena is an extremely valuable market to reach, and as such, gives the Naming rights partner an excellent marketing tool.

"We are looking for a Business or Corporation that can create a successful partnership which will enhance the company’s marketing efforts and image while offering Smoky Mountain Sk8way revenue to expand and become the only Sports and Entertainment Arena west of Asheville, as well as, attract and develop new business for our region", explains co-owner, JoLynn Bryant. “We’re confidant that the local business community will see the value in what we are offering. It’s a chance to make a huge difference for this area and promote your company too. We are always looking for the win-win and this would be a win for everyone.”

Proposals must be submitted by October 31, 2012. If you would like to submit a naming rights proposal and become a part of bringing a new Sports and Entertainment Arena to our area please contact JoLynn Bryant, 828-246-9124, or email: info@SmokyMountainSk8way.com.

“the Fun Depot located in Asheville received revenue from the city to rename it’s business to Asheville’s Fun Depot.”

Is this true? I don’t recall hearing/reading anything about any City Council actions related to this.
