Switchfoot plays the Orange Peel on Monday, May 7
After winning a Grammy for "Hello Hurricane," San Diego-based Switchfoot (formed in '96) followed up with album number eight, "Vice Verses." According to a press release, the melodic rock group (known for radio hits "Dare You To Move" and "Meant To Live") "took some chances, which can be heard on songs like the extraordinary, 'The Original' and 'In The News.'"

Switchfoot was founded by brothers Jonathan (vocals/guitar) and Tim (bass) Foreman. They added drummer Chad Butler and adopted the surfer term "switchfoot" as their moniker. A number of successful albums led to Switchfoot's appearance on the soundtrack for Many Moore film, "A Walk to Remember," and they were signed to Columbia Records. By 2005 they had a gold album. Among their awards are three from ASCAP, nine from Dove, and a "Best Christian Artist" nod from Rock on Request.

Switchfoot plays the Orange Peel on Monday, May 7. The Rocket Summer opens the all ages show. 8 p.m., $23 in advance or $25 at the door.
