As a result of less-than-expected patient volumes at local hospitals, MedWest will undergo staffing reductions effective today (Oct. 9) MedWest Communications Director Lucretia Stargell said.

Those 26 positions eliminated at MedWest-Harris and MedWest-Swain hospitals and 56 positions cut at MedWest-Haywood hospital won’t affect patient care, Harris and Swain CEO Steve Heatherly said during a Tuesday media briefing.
