According to the Asheville Citizen-Times, a three-member panel of physicians will soon review Henderson County Sheriff Rick Davis' request for medical retirement. Most medical retirement decisions are made after one meeting though sometimes the panel can ask for more documentation or take time to review a case if extensive documentation is provided, said Heather Strickland, a spokeswoman for the N.C. Department of State Treasurer, which administers the state retirement system.
