Walter Dalton thanks supporters
Friends,

I want to thank each and every one of you for your support of my campaign. Last night, time ran out on the campaign, but it was not a loss because Lucille and I have met so many wonderful people and we have been on the side of opportunity and progress. We fought the good fight against difficult odds and we were proud to have your support in this battle for the future of North Carolina.

While we did not prevail, these were some of the most rewarding months of my life and Lucille and I will always remember your kindness.

Someone once said, “Our lives begin to end the moment we become silent about the things that matter.” During this campaign we talked about those things that matter: jobs, education, equality, justice, and opportunity. I will continue in private life to live fully, caring about those things and I hope each and every one of you will also live fully and continue to support those things that matter to the future of North Carolina. In this election, nearly two million people signaled that these are the issues important to our future, and that our vision would lead North Carolina to that better day. Unfortunately, that was not enough, but we must stay involved because that is what democracy is about.

Lucille and I want thank everyone who volunteered, contributed to, and supported our campaign. You were all kind and gracious and I can never thank you enough. We wish Governor-elect Pat McCrory the best and wish the very best for North Carolina. It has been the honor of my life to serve as your Lieutenant Governor and to serve the people of the best state in the nation.

Sincerely,
Walter Dalton
