Weather Channel names Asheville one of safest Southern towns
No tsunamis, no earthquakes (OK, some, but they're barely measurable), not much to do about hurricanes (except for that flooding business, which happened with the remnants of Hurricanes Frances and Ivan), relatively mild winters and summers ... what's not to like?

WLOS reports that the Weather Channel examined the weather stats and names Asheville as one of the safest towns in the South:

"It describes the city as a virtual oasis in an otherwise dangerous, southern meteorological zone. Factors considered include extreme heat and cold, flooding and tornadoes. Lightning was listed as the biggest risk. ..."
