ASHEVILLE, NC – Nathan Ramsey, the Republican candidate for North Carolina State House District 115, is distorting his record in an attempt to distract voters from his past vote to cut millions from public education.

“Nathan Ramsey needs to stop running from his record and admit that he voted to cut $3 million dollars from our public schools,” Democratic candidate Susan Wilson said, “Nathan Ramsey clearly voted to gut public education and now he’s trying to hide from it—that is wrong. We cannot afford more of the same by sending Nathan Ramsey to Raleigh—we must do better.”

Ramsey’s vote on a controversial budget resulted in $3.75 million in cuts to local schools. This includes cuts of $1.5 million to Buncombe County Schools, $240,000 to Asheville City Schools and $766,000 to AB-Tech. Only under the threat of lawsuit did Ramsey back down.
