RiverFest is on. The Anything That Floats Parade is off.
RiverLink regrets it, but the waters of the mighty French Broad are too high to guarantee rafters' safety and there will be no RiverLink sponsored water activity on Saturday, August 10 connected to RiverFest - no "yachts" or tubes in the water! We consulted with area outfitters, many of whom are not putting watercraft on the river at this time, and feel we have made a difficult - but correct - decision.
Refunds - RiverLink will refund entry fees for those who would like because they couldn't float their boat or yacht this year in the Anything That Floats Boat Parade.
Canceling the Anything That Floats was the last thing RiverLink wanted to do, and they apologize for any convenience, but note that they have no control over the weather.
RiverFest, slated for 1 -- 7 p.m. at French Broad River Park, will go on as planned:
1:00 -- Welcome and Kid's Bike Parade
1:30 -- Kyle Juggler Brown
2:00 -- Ty Nemecheck live Music
3:00 -- Belly Dancing with Claire Dima
4:00 -- Taylor Martin's Engine live Music
5:30 -- 7:00 pm Headliners the Swayback Sisters live music
Rafters should contact RiverLink's Melinda LeQuin at 252-8474, ext. 10 or firstname.lastname@example.org for refund options.
