FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

UNC SCHOOL OF DENTISTRY ANNOUNCES CAROLINE ALBEA AS
RECEIPIENT OF THE DENTAL FRIENDS SCHOLARSHIP

CHAPEL HILL, N.C., March 18, 2013 – The UNC School of Dentistry recently announced Caroline Albea, third-year D.D.S. student, as the recipient of the Dental Friends Scholarship. The scholarship was established by Mr. and Mrs. Brooks who served as members of the Dental Parents Council and the Dental Foundation Board of Directors.

The scholarship recognizes a D.D.S. student from North Carolina who qualifies for financial aid and is making satisfactory progress academically. Asheville native Caroline Albea feels honored to have been selected as the recipient of this scholarship award.

“Words can’t even describe how humbled and honored I am to have received the Dental Friends Scholarship. UNC School of Dentistry is full of talented and very deserving students, so to be chosen is a huge honor,” said Albea. “Monetary issues can be overwhelming at times as a dental student, so I am very grateful for the Dental Foundation and to all of those who have contributed to its success.”

Mr. and Mrs. H. Franklin Brooks have been very active friends of the UNC School of Dentistry. They have served as members of the Dental Parents Council and the Dental Foundation Board of Directors. Additionally, the Brookses are the parents of a 1994 graduate of the dentistry school. The. Brooks are giving people who wanted to find a way to help high-achieving students in need of assistance to pay for their dental educations so they established this scholarship to achieve just that.
