Black Mountain's Bayou Diesel was formed in 2005 by accordionist/vocalist Steve Burnside and bassist Tall Paul Leech. The lineup is rounded out by David Zoll on guitar and vocals, Ben Biorlie on drums, and Miriam Allen on frottoir rub-board. Their years of touring and playing together have honed them into an expert dance band, serving up a tasty gumbo of Cajun, Zydeco and Mardi-Gras tunes. Bayou Diesel's mission is to embody the zydeco joi de vivre of high-energy, community-friendly dance music that all ages can enjoy anywhere.
Charlotte-based Carolina Gator Gumbo takes it's musical inspiration from the fiddle and accordion driven Cajun and Creole end of the southwest Louisiana spectrum. Since the early '90s this personable group have shared the infectious music of the prairies and bayous at concerts, dances and festivals. Fronted by Jean Prewitt on accordion and vocals, the band consists of Don Cowan (guitar), Carole Outwater (bass, vocals) and multi-instrumentalist Tom Eure adding swagger on fiddle, mandolin and vocals.
