Citizen-Times: “Asheville 11” case ends with misdemeanor pleas, charges dropped
The controversial case the "Asheville 11" accused of vandalism during May Day protests over two years ago has ended with three defendants pleading guilty to misdemeanor charges, and the other eight seeing their charges dropped entirely in exchange for community service. From the Asheville Citizen-Times:

ASHEVIILLE — The case involving a group known as the “Asheville 11” charged in a 2010 vandalism spree has finally been resolved after more than two and a half years of litigation.

Three of the 11 defendants charged in the May 1 rampage plead guilty to a Class 1 misdemeanor riot charge in exchange for time served and restitution, Assistant District Attorney Thomas Amburgey said Friday.

The remaining eight defendants were required to complete community service hours and pay restitution, with their charges being dropped completely.
