Asheville, N.C. (Aug. 5, 2013) – Mission Health announces the addition of Alendia Hartshorn, MD, to the team of neurologists at Mission Neurology. Dr. Hartshorn is a board-certified neurologist and diplomate of the National Board of Medical Examiners.
“We are honored to have Dr. Hartshorn join the team at Mission Neurology,” said Duff Rardin, MD, Outpatient Medical Director of Mission Neurology. “Dr. Hartshorn is an involved member of the medical community with extensive training and a passion for providing high-quality, patient-centered care. We are confident her expertise in neurophysiology will result in exceptional care to the patients we serve in western North Carolina.”
Dr. Hartshorn received her bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of North Carolina at Asheville and her doctoral degree from the James H. Quillen College of Medicine at East Tennessee State University in Johnson City, TN. Her postdoctoral training includes the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth in Lebanon, NH, and the White River Junction VA Medical Center in White River Junction, VT. Dr. Hartshorn is part of the WebMD Health Professional Network. She previously served as a Patient Care Technician at Mission Hospital’s Emergency Department from 2001 to 2003.
“I am privileged to be joining Mission Neurology to work alongside some of the best physicians in our specialty,” Dr. Hartshorn said. “After leaving to pursue medical education, I am excited to return home to Asheville. I look forward to developing long-term relationships with my patients and working with the physicians and staff at Mission Neurology Associates to deliver the best care possible, right here in western North Carolina.”
In her spare time, Dr. Hartshorn enjoys running, practicing yoga, exploring the outdoors and enjoying local food and culture.
Outpatient services at Mission Neurology are provided by board-certified neurologists who see patients in need of follow-up care after hospitalization and new patients referred from their physicians.
