Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation is awarding much needed life-saving equipment to Buncombe County Schools Foundation.
WHO
Attendees include representatives from Buncombe County Schools Foundation, franchisees Donna and Monte Sims, area representative Ray Gowin and Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation executive director Robin Peters.

DONATION DESCRIPTION
Otherwise unavailable due to budget constraints, the Buncombe Country Schools Foundation benefits with 20 Phillips Healthcare HeartStart on-site defibrillators worth more than $18,200. The donated devices will be placed in 20 local elementary schools to ensure the schools are prepared to provide life-saving assistance if a student, staff member or visitor goes into cardiac arrest.
ABOUT FIREHOUSE SUBS PUBLIC SAFETY FOUNDATION
In 2005, Firehouse Subs created the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation with the mission of providing funding, life-saving equipment, and educational opportunities to first-responders. Through the non-profit 501(c)(3), Firehouse Subs has given $5.7 million to hometown heroes in 36 states and Puerto Rico, including more than $436,700 in North Carolina.
LOCAL FUNDRAISING INITIATIVES
Each restaurant recycles leftover, five-gallon pickle buckets and sells them to guests for $2. Donation canisters on register counters explain the non-profit’s mission and collect spare change, while the Round Up Program allows guests to “round up” their bill to the nearest dollar. All funds raised benefit the Foundation.
Right now, Firehouse Subs is donating $1 to the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation for every photo of a pickle bucket posted to Instagram, the Firehouse Subs Facebook page, Twitter, or Pinterest with #BucketsSaveLives from December 31, 2012 - February 10, 2013 to help first responders get the equipment they need to protect and save lives.
