Youth OUTright, WNC, Inc., swings into the New Year with a full complement of January programming.
Programs are held every Sunday from 4 to 6 p.m. at the First Congregational United Church of Christ in downtown Asheville. Plus, YO's monthly expressive arts program is happening WEEKLY on Thursdays in 2014! From 5-6:30 pm at our regular space in FCUCC at 20 Oak Street, YO will host local teachers and artists to instruct us in all the creative arts Asheville has to offer! Each month will feature a theme--Poetry, Dance, Comedy, Circus Arts, etc.--and each week of that month will feature a different workshop or activity on that theme. This month, we also feature special activities for No Name-Calling Week.

Sunday 1/5: Our Voice joins YO to present the first half of a 2-part Climbing Toward Confidence program. This week, we'll talk about sexual harassment, setting boundaries and safety. We'll be at our regular location and will get liability waivers for the following week. All are welcome to attend Part 1, even if not attending Part 2, but attendance at Part 1 is mandatory to participate in Part 2. Sunday 1/19: Movie Night and No Name-Calling Week activity: In anticipation of No Name-Calling Week, we'll watch a few of the videos made by youth all over the country observing No Name-Calling Week in past years. For a sneak peak, see http://www.youtube.com/glsen
No Name-Calling Week puts a spotlight on bullying and encourages ways youth can fight bias and name-calling in their schools.
Thursday 1/23: Express YO-Self! Poetry--"Celebrate Kindness" is GLSEN's theme for No Name-Calling Week 2014. This will be our guiding concept in tonight's workshop and motivation for No Name-Calling Week this year.
Sunday 1/26: Lou Stewart will bring us another installment of American LGBTQ History from the 20th-21st Century! We'll learn about important LGBTQ groups, individuals, events and issues.

Youth OUTright, WNC, Inc., a 501c-3, not-for-profit organization, offers discussion groups and social activities for gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender and questioning youth.
