Nature Center Groundhog Day event Feb.2

Each year, the Western North Carolina Nature Center’s groundhog, Nibbles, has been making her prediction about the remaining weeks of winter in Western North Carolina.

This year, join the Nature Center on Saturday, February 2, 2013 at 2:00 pm for a special presentation featuring stories and songs relating to “nature’s prognosticator”, the groundhog. Asheville Citizen-Times Outdoor Editor, Karen Chavez, will be the official “groundhog-ese” interpreter for Nibble’s as she makes her 2013 prediction. All activities are included with regular Nature Center admission -Adults $8 (Asheville city residents - $6), Seniors (65 & over) - $7 (Asheville city residents - $5) Youth (3-15) - $4, 2 years old and younger free.

The Western North Carolina Nature Center features over 60 species of animals native to the Southern Appalachians including red wolves, cougars, otters, black bears, and reptiles. The Nature Center is accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA) and welcomes over 100,000 visitors annually.
