(Fletcher, NC, June 27, 2013) A new nonprofit organization, Books for Good, Inc. (BFG), has recently been established in Fletcher to sell items, primarily books, and give the proceeds to other nonprofits. It serves as a resource for all nonprofits in Western North Carolina that receive donations of books but do not have the means to maximize profits from their sale.
Individuals may donate items to a participating nonprofit that collects items and transfers them to BFG for sale on its behalf. Items may also be donated by individuals directly to BFG with the donor specifying which IRS-recognized nonprofit will benefit from the sale of their items.
“No books will be discarded unless they are falling apart or water-damaged,” says BFG President Joe Ann Shaffer. “Every effort will be made to maximize the value of all items.”
Books, as well as original CDs, DVDs and VHS tapes, will be sold either on line or at a local sale. Items remaining after local sales will either be held for the next sale or be sold as a lot with payment distributed to nonprofits in an equitable manner.
