After serving as publisher of the Asheville Citizen-Times for about six years, it took less than 10 tweets and 30 minutes for news of Randy Hammer's retirement at the Gannett publication to spread to the public. According to an article from the Citizen-Times, a 62-year-old Randy Hammer told members of the local newsroom today that he decided to retire in order to return to his love of writing.
Due to a "legal advertising error," the city of Asheville has postponed all five public hearings scheduled for the Jan. 11 City Council meeting, including a vote on the controversial 51 Biltmore project. Four of the hearings are rescheduled for the Jan. 25 meeting, and one for the Feb. 8 meeting.
