It’s a little embarassing to say, but I’m a geek about professional wrestling. I am right now enjoying a 12 DVD set of Bill Watts’ Mid-South/UWF wrestling from the early-to-late 80s. I just ordered another 12 disc set of Memphis Wrestling from the 80s.

Does anyone else here like wrestling? Let’s talk about the good and bad stuff.

Having been an X-Files fan since the Pilot, I’m pretty excited about this new film. Planning on going to see it during a matinee tomorrow afternoon. I’ve got my fingers crossed that it’s good! :)

Let’s talk about “Anywhere, USA”

Formerly known as Asheville: The Movie, this film was shot more-or-less entirely in Asheville. It was recently announced that the film was selected by Sundance Film Festival to screen in their Dramatic Competition.

Director Anthony “Chusy” Haney-Jardine has been fairly quiet about the production, and even the film’s website is devoid of concrete information about the film.

So, until the film is released some time in 2008, all we can do is gossip about it. Any thoughts, theories or insights?

Holy Crap. I just saw this on TCM the other night. it is, possibly, one of the best movies I have ever seen. Carol Channing singing the theme song at the end is STUCK in my head on repeat. Groucho Marx as God? Jackie Gleason tripping balls? Carol Channing stripping out of a dress that comes off like a lemon-rind?

Just saw it last night on teevee. terrible movie, but a very interesting plot line that mirrors current U.S. politics in a pretty controversial way.

Has ken hanke seen it? I was hoping to find a review, but it appears he didnt review it…

48 Hour Film Project 2008

From their homepage: “The 48 Hour Film Project comes to Asheville on the weekend of June 20. Filmmakers from all over the Asheville area will compete to see who can make the best short film in only 48 hours. The winning film will go up against films from around the world for the title ‘Best 48 Hour Film of 2008.’”

Any thoughts on this? I thought that the previous three were tons of fun.
