I’m thinking of starting a vlog

I’ve been watching a lot of That Guy With The Glasses and the Angry Video Game Nerd of recent, and it’s really been getting my mind spinning on how these ideas could be applied at a local level. In case you’re not familiar with either project, they’re basically geek video blogs (vlogs) and/or podcasts. TGWTG is focused on Doug Walker’s Nostalgia Critic reviews, but with several other vloggers doing similar kinds of stuff on the network. AVGN is James Rolfe’s well-known, foul-mouthed video game review series.

What I like about both is how simple they are. It’s generally a performer/reviewer, a digital camera and some simple editing. There’s not much to it on the technical or cost side, yet the shows are well-written and highly entertaining.

While this is pretty much geek stuff, in the back of my head I was thinking about how these same concepts could be applied to local news and arts. Since I’m based in Spartanburg, what would a local news, arts and event vlog—still intended to be mostly entertainment—look like?

Any ideas? Any other examples I could look to for inspiration?

The Best TV Shows

Let’s start a list of good TV shows to recommend to each other. I’ll start.

“Eastbound and Down”—Brilliant comedy about a washed-up pro-pitcher modeled on John Rocker.

“Flight of the Conchords”—Two struggling musicians from New Zealand try to make it in New York, kind of.

“The Office”—Because, even though it long ago jumped the shark, it’s still reasonably funny and moderately well written. And Pam. Can’t forget her.

“Battlestar Galactica”—Sure, it just ended two weeks ago. So what? It’s still worth watching if you haven’t seen it yet. Start at the beginning, though.

OK, that’s enough from me. Now it’s your turn. Recommend us up some TV, please.

I just ran across this local video series today. There are five episodes of this thing online, mostly about these guys doing seemingly awful things to the walls of World Coffee Cafe. I’m not sure what I think about it yet.

This movie was pretty as I seen on the trailer and the movie gets more adventure with the story of world end and it was some thing any could be interested on seen the movie was directed well and some of the captions are really like reality and some times it makes the audience scary with it wow I must see this movie and still have only seen the trailer of the movie

For comedy movie fans this movie Pirate Radio (2009) is making good ground and all ready most of the audience are in favor of seen the movie free movies I saw the trailer and it was one of the finest of movies in release. This movie was directed by Richard Curtis and he was one of the good movie directors can think deep with humor. It was still on coming soon

We’re only in the 4th Q of ‘09 and I’ve seen 3 different movie trailers for the 2012 “end of the world” scenario. How many will there be AND will any one of them be good?
