Jason, I dont want to outlaw smoking. But honestly, do you really think the two are comparable? One is a highly addictive substance, propped up in the marketplace by tax-payer subsidies, filled with toxic chemicles for the purpose of making users further addicted. And the other is a plant that is more or less completely unaltered by the minimal processing after harvest. Weed has never been successfully linked to cancer, whereas cigarettes obviously have.
But, yes, it is funny how certain busy bodies dont seem to see the apearant hypocrasy in their desire to criminalize cigarette smoking. But, I hate going to a show or bar and reeking of cigarettes later. I dont smoke, and I think it’s silly that smokers seem to think it’s their ‘right’ to blow second hand smoke in my face.
So whats sthe actual topic? Weed legislation? States rights. Decriminalization. Give WNC a chance to have a successful cash crop again for the first time in decades. One that isnt propped up through taxpayer’s money. Legalization only legitimates the Feds authority over a PLANT.

In the interest of fairness, THC is VERY addictive. It lingers in your fat cells and sticks around for a long time in your system, so it’s rare to go through DTs when you get off of it. But, were you to take a TCH-blocking substance, you’d experience a very nasty withdrawal. Government hype aside, there are some not-so-nice things about weed’s impact on the body (as least when abused), and I think it’s worth mentioning that the plant itself is actually heavily altered from the type found in nature — at least as much as commercial tobacco is from it’s natural equivalent.
That said, I’m not in the anti-camp (but am also not a user). I just want to make sure we don’t perpetuate myths.
Well, what I actually said was “(Marijuana) is a plant that is more or less completely unaltered by the minimal processing after harvest. Weed has never been successfully linked to cancer, whereas cigarettes obviously have.”
None of that is untrue. It is true that the way pot is grown is very manipulated by chemical inputs, like fertilizers, and is very different in appearance to a wild plant (as different as your typical tomatoe or lettuce plant is to its ‘wild’ rellies) but it is not mainly a medium for all sort of chemical byproducts that are in your typical cigarette. There is absolutely no added byproducts in the majority of marijuana available on any market., discounting additions of other drugs by the users themselves.
The only real comparison you make make between cigarettes and Marijuana is the way they are consumed: smoked. Beyond that they are very, very different drugs.
At the end of the day, you’re still smoking. You are breathing smoke. It’s unhealthy. Stand over a campfire for an hour and tell me how good your lungs feel.
That mushroom trip did open my eyes. It showed me that my life was rife with double standards and blind adulation of ideas that I hold true because they fit into my stupid little iMac ready lifestyle.
At the end of the day, I still get high, but I don’t hold any false pretenses about what it is. I don’t seek for governmental approval. I don’t lie to myself about those suffering. I don’t seek to use those suffering from disease as a puppet so that I can get the government to okay me getting baked. I just get baked.
Sometimes you just do things and you don’t carry the banner. Sure it’s not sexy and you can’t get up in a tizzy online about it, but it makes the day go by better.

No myths have been perpetuated.
Fair enough. I think I anticipated you going in another direction, and I was a bit afraid this was going to turn into a “pot is a miracle cure” discussion. I was trying to head that off, but I see the point you were getting at.
I thought they were going to speak about an ill person and use them as some sort of a rallying cry so that a nation of Sega players can find a way to get high legally.

Have you ever played “ToeJam & Earl” sober? It’s not very fun.

oh, jason, you are nothing but an online tizzy. But, the unsubstantiated assumptions you make about another person’s opinions do make for some glorious over-simplification that allow you to maintain your own delusional superiority. So, yeah! Smoke Weed!

Just so long as we’re all agreed about “Wrath of the Black Manta” being a rotten game, no matter how high you are.
