Who are best dressed local celebs? The trend-setters. The fashion plates?

For the purposes of this discussion, I’d suggest we give “celeb” a rather loose definition along the lines of “often seen in the public eye.”

I’d suggest both Stephanie Morgan (from Stephanie’s Id) and Jane Kramer Edens (from the Barrel House Mamas).

And, while we’re at it, we should also talk about the least fashionable local celebs. Since I’ve currently got the highest number of posts on this forum, I nominate myself. I’m in shambles, honestly.

Me, me… I buy my clothes from Goodwill and the Salvation Army Thrift store and I wear a cowboy hat.

No, wait… that’s the HEIGHT of fashion, a determinedly independent statement… a manly look of a true American hero.

And… Steve… your attire is almost as good!

so we’ve just cooked the Gucci of those other celebs, wot?

Best dressed:
• Dema Badr, Molly Kummerle, Orlando and Tiffany at Union, Suzie Millions, Kipp the bartender.

What not to wear:
• Uggs, skirts over pants, Carhartts (unless you’re a carpenter or landscaper), anything accessorized with a hula hoop.

Maybe we should go about this the other way, and rate local celebs on a 1 to 10 point system, with 1 being “Theodore Kaczynski” and 10 being “Tim Gunn.” No, scratch that, I like the Unibomber’s look better. Let’s just go from 1 to 10.

How about Darcel Grimes?

I’m going to give her a 7, because she always looks like she’s at least put some thought into getting dressed.

Okay… 7 is good for Darcel ... best dressed WLOSer in recent times was Bob Caldwell. He always looked inpecably outdoorsy and ready to trapse a hidden mountain trail in great style… oh, wait he was!

Second best dresser on WLOS, Mr. Bill. Mr. Bill once landed his hot air balloon in my back yard. I got the pics to prove it.

Greatest dresser of ALL TIME on WLOS, Farmer Russ! Without a doubt. Too bad he got fired for drinking a bit but he had his revenge for many years on WSKY radio, featuring guests like I.W. Harper and Jim Beam.

(sigh) WLOS used to have REAL personalities on the air, not the same-as-every-other-station-in-America blands and blandettes they have now.

I’d give Stephanie Morgan from Stephanie’s Id a 8 ... maybe an 8.5.

Mr. Bill once landed his hot air balloon in my back yard.

Mr. Hand and Sluggo were probably the culprits leading to said landing, eh?

OH NOOOOOOOOOO!!

Heh, heh… I know that Mr. Bill, too… but I am, of course, talking about the REAL Mr. Bill, Bill Norwood who was on WLOS for a very, very long time and a true entertainer.

I think Stephanie of Stephanie’s Id is adorable, but I’m not sure that short skirts over funky ripped tights count as fashionable.

I’m always impressed with how put together Susan Reinhardt is, despite what she says about herself. I once was at a nursery school park mixer with her and she had on this great yellow suit and high heels. I was wearing yoga pants and a T-shirt. Which reminds me, since I wrote my yoga pants column, everywhere I go, people want to check out my pants!

It’s the price of being a fashionplate. ;-)

Yoga pants are like the refined big sisters of shapeless sweats. Tim Gunn, in his new book, says no one should ever wear yoga pants outside of a yoga class, but I think there’s a place for them (especially if one has the butt). Why not wear the yoga pants with heels? Then you get the comfort, the butt-maximizing, and the long-legged firm-calves look.

Well… if you really think it will help me… but I wanna see Steve and Jason Bugg try them first, high heels make me dizzy. ... Even when I’m the one wearing them.

I don’t need any help in the “butt-maximizing” department, I should think.

If yoga pants come in husky sizes, I’ll be the first one to wear them.

I just hope Virato doesn’t try to cop a feel once he sees me in them.

That’s easily the most disgusting mental image I’ve had in 2008.
