I called the Biden pick a couple of days early based on reports of security sweeps and security details shadowing him.
It appears the same pattern has emerged for Romney:

Personally, I feel great about this. I can’t imagine a more whitebread (not that that’s a bad thing) run of the mill Republican to reinforce the stark contrast in candidates.
Personally, I like Mitt. I feel like he’s an honorable guy, as is McCain (I’m very centrist, cue flaming), but let’s face it: A good deal of this election is based on identity politics. A rich white Christian guy is not the spark the McCain campaign needs. Plus, there is a segment of hardcore Christian Evangelicals that won’t vote for him based on his Mormon belief. Not enough to ultimately swing some red states blue, but we’ll take what we can get.

Looking good for Obama if this indeed turns out to be true.

That is unless Interpol kidnaps him to stand trial for war crimes in the Hague.

Actually, from what i understood, the Repubs were pretty much behind Mitt from the GetGo. He wouldn’t want to be on a ticket with McCain since he appears to be the sacrificial Bob Dole/John Kerry kind of candidate.

I know some very bible-belt south carolina repub hardliner bible thumpers who were all about the Mitt. Five years ago they might have questioned the Mormon thing, but just last fall they seemed to think he was the real deal.
