All free and legal live performances of some of your favorite bands can be found here. You will need a torrent client and some way to convert from flac to wav or MP3. I use a utility called XRECODE. http://bt.etree.org/
This site does not require a torrent client. It also provides thousands of live recordings plus a lot of other stuff of educational value. Live performances can be downloaded one song at a time. It seems many bands allow tapers at concerts they have no intention of offering on CD. You can find stuff on these sites from events right here in this area. I have Sam Bush at the fair two years ago, Yonder Mountain String Band at Thomas Wolfe and if you’re into Belle Cher or the Christmas jam most of that is also available.
Last fall, two friends joined forces to create the ultimate ’90s mix of “super deluxe hits, under-appreciated album cuts and the utter weirdness that passed for major label singles in the 1990s.” The result, DJ Nick Catchdubs and Mr. Ducker’s Radio Friendly Unit Shifter, is an infectious and fun nostalgia trip — hello again, L7, Butthole Surfers, Sublime and Pavement! (download it for free HERE). The next logical step was obvious: a sequel.
Radio Friendly Unit Shifter ’09 goes even deeper into what, in retrospect, was a very good decade for alternative music. Remember songs like Marcy Playground’s “Sex and Candy,” Elastica’s “Connection,” or Superdrag’s “Sucked Out”? They’re all here, as well as other forgotten favorites from the likes of Weezer, P.J. Harvey, Cake, the Pixies, and Nada Surf. The 36-song playlist flows seamlessly along, taking you back to those heady days of Seattle angst and un-ironic music festivals. The best part, considering this is 2009? It’s free.

At 1and1.com, sign up for its 1&1 Home hosting plan and get TWELVE months of hosting for FREE. (Afterwards, the plans start at $4.99 per month.) Additionally, you get two domains for free with this plan. That’s one of the best such offers I’ve seen from a web hosting service. The base plan includes 120GB of storage, 1,200GB of monthly bandwidth, 1,200 email accounts, IMAP email, spam filters, and more. Plus, they give you private registrations for FREE (something that GoDaddy charges up to $10 extra for.) Deal ends August 30.
There is no irony in providing these beneficial notices of FREE goods. I am just like Matthew Lesko! There are all these great deals out there and somebody needs to let others know!! (Okay, that last one did look a lot like spam, and I WOULD get a referral incentive out of it, but it really is a good deal because I copied and pasted it from the DealMac deal site. The rest of them, I had no stake in, but I guess this is starting to look like a SPAM thread because I’m the only one who ever actually posts any deals in it.) Maybe I just care TOO much for others, I guess.
If you still have one of those government NTIA digital converter $40 cards, you can buy this unit for free (after the card has been deducted) and with free shipping and it looks like there is some kind of antenna there for free too, you can add to the cart. (Can’t vouch for the quality of either, probably all made in CHINA) but it’s free!
