I know, smoking will kill you. Blah, blah, blah, but I like a cigarette with my drink. I understand that many people don’t like the smoke and it is not too much to ask us to go outside. But it is winter and I am cold.
Let’s start a list of the restaurants that still allow smoking inside. I look forward to your responses.
If you’re a club that is non smoking, more power to you. If you’re a club that allows smoking, fine. People can choose to go there or not. Down with The Nanny State for making whole states go non smoking. I recently heard a patron in a West Asheville (go figure) restaurant complain to her spouse that they had to sit next to a table where others were eating a dish with meat and she could smell it. Waaaaaaahhh, I thought. I objected to her odor of smug but didn’t complain to the management.
To the clubs that are currently smoking and bow down to pressure from anti smoking types, you’re a weenie with no backbone and will do anything to draw customers. Alcohol is served in those bars, which has a pretty bad effect on health too. Too bad second hand alcohol doesn’t cause health problems- a lot off boozers would be up in arms. Clubs don’t make money on smoking, so they’ll do away with it. Simple enough.
I have a pipe dream (no pun intended) of opening a bar in Asheville and letting the smokers go outside with cell phone users in the cold. Texters would have to go outside with the cell phone users too.

I don’t mind going outside to smoke, just don’t make me hang out with the texters. There’s an addiction I’ve no sympathy for.
Not wanting to badmouth them unless my 2004 observations were still accurate I just ate there again and nobody was doing cocaine in the bathroom or making deals in the stairwell. Great food and perfect service.
