Is that why it’s called the Rocket club?

And Lumina….careful what you wish for.

Dear Everyone!

We here at The Rocket Club would like to thank Asheville for coming out and supporting us during POPAsheville, and during our first week in business. Heartfelt thanks to Stephanie Morgan, Chuck Lichtenberger, and all the wonderful, hardworking organizers, volunteers, and musicians who helped to make this weekend a rousing success. In the words of my friend, the late, great, Wesley Willis: “The Rock Show was awe-some…it kicked a donkey’s ass.” Special thanks to the Grey Eagle and Stella Blue for partnering with us, and to all the fans who came out. We play the music…but YOU Rock!

(I’m off to the ABC…ya’ll drank up all the liquor.)

Cheers!

Kevin Nessle

The Rocket Club looked great ...and sounded great on Sunday night of POPAsheville.  There was a large crowd there Sunday night, and I’ve been told that the club was packed to overflowing on Saturday night.

I caught The Poles and the Howlies at RC and they were both great.

I’m excited about seeing future shows there.  It’s gonna be a fun place to hear live music in 2008 and I’m looking foward to seeing your upcoming band schedule.

Kudos to Ken and Kevin for working their asses off and being such a huge part of POPAsheville and your eagerness to be part of the larger music community in town.  Your hard work, generosity, and positive energy are much appreciated.

I should add that all 3 venues , The Rocket Club, Grey Eagle, and Stella Blue did a great job this weekend with POPAsheville.  I’m gonna continue to be faced with some tough decisions each week as I try to decide which local shows to see.  (..maybe we can get the LaZoom bus to run a Club shuttle every Fri and Sat night)

Oh…and I confess to being partially responsible for the rapid depletion of the liquor shelves at the Rocket Club last night.

I did poke my head in, and it sounded good!  Unfortunately the tickets i bought were absconded by the younger folks in my household and they had a great time at all 3 venues.

On a less upscale note someone’s car scraped the side of Julian’s silver Honda parked at the Gas Up on Saturday and no one fessed up.  Not the Rocket Club’s fault, but looking for someone who might want to come forward…  Or saw something…

Parking was a bit snafu-ish, but with the Zoom bus many parked at Stella or Grey Eagle and zoomed around despite the cold.

When I want to vibrate, I simply have an extra cup of coffee in the morning.
