My birthday present to myself was a brand new grill, my first ever, upon which I cooked up 10 New York strips from Hickory Nut Gap Farm for myself and friends….

Remember now, I was a vegetarian for 8 years up until about 3 weeks ago…

Damn skippy.

Not really ‘falling off the wagon’, more of an ethical re-alignment…

to get back on topic ....

i had small strips of basa drizzled in a mixture of flour and toasty cornmeal with creole spices
gently fried. Laid caringly on an thin 8 inch flour tortilla tenderly dressed with shredded leaf lettuce, chopped cherry tomatoes, bits of avacado, and a swirl of a spicy carribean cream sauce

and a side of the dirtiest rice you can make without an x rating

How have I missed this thread?

My favorite best last meal was sweet breads from Zambras.
Also, the Monte Cristo from Usual Suspects is incredible.

T.K. Tripps used to make a good Monte Cristo, but I haven’t seen it on the menu in a long time. Garfield’s makes a terrible one.

I love Monte Cristos too, Cheddars has one and it was blah.  Garfields is closed so no more crappy ones from there.  Oh I just might have to break out the frydaddy.
