ME thinks the gentleman puts too much credit upon the limited confines of his definition of ‘punk’ and the supposed impact of said movement, but the sentiment is agreeable, nonetheless.

I don’t think he limits punk to the bands mentioned (his band is punk, FWIW), just to some of the ones that perhaps influenced him.
And I don’t think he overstated the impact it has/can had/have.
I know many activists whose first whifs of subjects political came through music, specifically that of the punkish persuasion.
And the sentiment is indeed agreeable.
If you didn’t put your fist up with the last line then I’m not sure why you’d listen all the way to the last line in the first place.
