Hip hop needs voices, the artists these days aren’t standing up for anything, its old and overplayed. I search through a lot of on YouTube and I came across this artist named DeLon, he really got me into what he’s doing.

Really, Dayani? Hip hop doesnt have artists who “stand for something”? What “hip hop” do you listen to?, because i can think of ten off the top of my head who indeed do. Check the rap thread for K’Nann, Erykah Badu, KRS One, Mos Def, Jay Z, immortal technique, shit, the list goes on and on and on.

Usually when people make the statement you’ve just made, it is because their only experience of so-called “hip hop” is the radio or MTV. The hip hop world is indeed full of prolific, “so-called “conscious” rappers. Seek them out.  Also, WVLmama is right about that guy you posted. I hear no ‘message”, he sings through a ####### vocoder, and looks like quite a poser. Although the beats were kinda cool.

Seriously, check out K’naan if you need some high-minded, PC hip hop. If that’s too edgy, then maybe PM Dawn?

I dont mind if you dont like rap. In fact, these last few years of its rise in popularity and mainstream appeal has made me quite nostalgic for the days of it being maligned as “not music”. I want my awesome subculture back,  post-2000 popculture.

also, everything you say i read with the sound of ralph wiggum in my head, so it adds to the context.

“my cats breath smells like cat food”.

Also, what the fu¢k is witht he vocoder?

actually I gots nothing against rap.  I was listening to PE back in the 80’s.  and I like Mos Def, but I don’t listen to it anything that could be considered regular.

No. We watched the video you provided, and it was just a bad clip of a chorus about the “feel good” movement, or something along those lines. If you want us to comment on other material, you should really post it, or at least mention it.

...(watching youtube…)...

Nope. Dudes stuff is boring and cliche, and the production is wack. I still maintain that there are Waaaaaay better “conscious” MC’s out there than this poser wannabe who seems to be trying to make a name for himself among people who dont really know anything about rap music. but thats just my perspective. Thanks for posting. Have you been following the Rap thread?

Hey DeLon is tight I really like his music and style. He reminds me of a K’Naan flow alittle bit. But as the saying goes people going to always hate you for whatever you do.

FYI: “Marvan” and “Dayani” are posting from the same IP address, which appears to route back to a proxy server in California. Is this some really bizarre attempt at viral marketing or something?
