I knew I could count on lefties to sympathize with whoever is against America. You can’t help yourselves. Even the Kos Kritters find fault with the brave Captain Phillips:

The pirates’ modus operandi is that they hold the crew, ship, and cargo harmlessly until a lot of money is paid to them.  Phillips “heroic” actions put his crew and himself at risk.  If he’d done nothing except acquiesce to the pirates’ demands, there would have been no risk, just possible discomfort until the extortion money was paid.  Instead he put himself and the Seals at grave risk.

The Johann Hari article is just a recycled story from al-Jazeera last October trying to propagandize the pirates as ecologists. Ecologists! Sounds like a British Comedy sketch…”The Pirate Ecologists of Somalia”.

I hope that President Obama takes a page from President Jefferson (today is Jefferson’s Birthday) and send in the US Navy and the Marines to increase the population of Hell by several hundred more brigands.

The Barbary Pirates were situated on a lucrative trade route, and they took advantage of that until we taught them that there was a price involved with attacking Americans.

The same is true with the Somali Pirates. The ecological claims are craaap (channeling Saul Tigh) of the highest order. The east coast of Africa has lots of cargo vessels and there is a power vacuum in the region. No one is keeping order, and criminal have moved in to take advantage of the situation. There are several failed governments in the region, and they attract this type of crime like broken windows attract street crime. The solution is the same in either case.

Arming cargo vessels is also another solution. Several 50 cals, grenade launchers, and mortars mounted on cargo ships would do wonders. I would also take a page from the Mossad’s response to the Munich Massacre and track down former pirates and dispatch them to the hereafter with extreme prejudice.

I subscribe to the FDR-Churchill “Unconditional Surrender” Philosophy when it comes to negotiation with enemies of the USA, whether they be nations, terrorists or pirates.

I forgot to add a link to some of the East Africa trade routes used by the Maersk Line. I checked some of the other shipping companies, and many of them ply the same general routes.

Cargo convoys are another possibility I hadn’t thought of until just now…just organize convoys of vessels and have them be escorted by ships from various friendly navies.

If pirates come to close…sink ‘em.

Another good tactic to find the pirates would be to send a plum looking yacht in there with some containers on deck disguising major firepower. when they are fired upon….open up big time. After a few of these they will slow their piracy a bit.
Haiti has had toxics from the US dumped on them for yrs and hasn’t resorted to piracy…..they have enough problems anyway.
I know many mariners who have been on round the world trips and that area has been scary for them for yrs, as well as the Myanmar (Burma) area.

And your link wasn’t left/right???

Liking them hypocrisy sandwiches much?

It isn’t so much left/right as wrong/right. LOL.

Your arguing style is starting to resemble the style employed by Tim Peck. (not a compliment)

I gave my solution to piracy. What is yours, tribute?

I guess if you see everything as left/right then you would think so.

I don’t have a solution, never said I did.  I was simply pointing to information that is not being disseminated by the mainstream media.  And if you were prudent enough to actually read this thread, wherein I refute their methods (see reply #7) you’d see this is not the case.

sympathizing with a people that have been abused by a world-wide corporate power structure, is not the same thing as sympathizing with their form of retaliation against said structure.

Also the glee that you seem to show in their deaths (with the silly graphic and all) I find rather distasteful.  Perhaps it was necessary to take their lives in order to save the captains, but I just don’t see how gloating over the death of another human being is anything but wrong, no matter what crime they were accused of.

Yes, I am gloating over their deaths. (Gleefully and Giddily as well). I jumped up, pumped my fist and said “Yes!” when I saw the first tweet of the news. I am a little sad that there weren’t more dead pirates, but there is always hope that there will be more over the course of time. I could learn to love President Obama if he deploys troops to Somalia to engage in a little pirate-cleaning campaign. Preferably with a Marine Expeditionary Unit and a Carrier Battle Group.

Don’t do the crime, if you can’t do the time. “

TP-I would think any red-blooded Mur-can would be obligated to have, at the very least, some sympathy for a well-organized, armed citizenry that can take matters into their own hands, instead of whining to the US and the UN.

Because, that’s what these “pirates” are doing.

And sympathy for their “cause” has nothing to do with being anti-american, unless you want to claim that red-blooded murcans somehow benefit from the illegal dumping of toxic waste on poor people’s land.

and shad—great link. I doubt teepee even read it, since it has too many long words and not enough piktshures.

Guess I think the three boobs got exactly what they deserved. I applaud the decision to take the shot, I applaud the skill of those Navy Seals who did the job. I don’t believe in the death penalty but when men are in the act of committing a serious crime and placing the lives of innocent people in jeopardy I would not have hesitated for a split second to give the order nor to have taken the kill shot myself.

Of course the leftist-liberal ragtags embrace the pirates. They are each thieves in arms of some sort. Where else but in the crusty perverted minds of that big empty chasm of a head could loving support of piracy ever be manifested ... tuckfards, every one of you. How will you justify Obama giving the green light to proceed blowing the grey matter of those poor brown pirates all over the dingy?

looks like meat heads everywhere jizzed themselves dreaming of “justifiably” killing a brown person….

What the #### does race have to do with this? Why inject such a subtle suggestion of racism?
