Although I don’t eat much red meat these days, I’ve been thinking about giving up the flesh altogether for the summer in an attempt to slim down a little. This has been further influenced by the fact that my wife and I joined a CSA earlier this year, and will have oodles of vegetables to deal with every two weeks.
This wouldn’t be the first time I’ve gone vegetarian—I did it for the better part of a year, taking occasional weekend breaks to eat sushi—so I’m not exactly a noob. But I’m kind of on the fence about the idea, and need some kind of sarcastic nudging to make the decision. For the ease of conversation, let’s say I’ll be starting on May 1st, and will—just like last time—occasionally be eating fish, because fish is awesome.
I should clarify that there’s nothing ethical driving this decision, but rather it’s a purely dietary move: I’m not against eating animals, I’m just going to be inundated with plants soon, and thought I’d try to make the most of it. If you want to talk about animal rights, start your own thread and leave mine alone.
