I confess I had to look this up to even know what it was. It looks like it got little, if any, theatrical play. Certainly, it didn’t play here. The paper has a basic rule that we don’t review things unless they play locally and the reader has a shot at going to see them.
I admit to a mild curiosity as to what those awards were, but only mild, mind you. Having read the IMDb information on Duck, however, I suspect you will not be shattered, since I am not encouraged to run right out and buy or rent or borrow it.
yeah, the ‘awards’ appear to be a bunch of film fests and whatnot.
I liked the story, but also the way it was filmed to make LA seem even more a post-modern wasteland than it already is. Sort of a sepia tone lens or something. Pretty good dialogue, too. A very simple movie all around.
Most people I know seem to actually like Joe vs. the Volcano, which is odd when you consider that it pretty completely killed John Patrick Shanley’s career as a filmmaker till last year’s Doubt. Where were all you folks when this movie came out and promptly tanked?
