Just saw where a young girl was attacked by three aggressive dogs..( this was the third time these dogs had attacked and then obviously been left to attack again)shes currently in the hospital having her head sown back together.. my family andI have been attacked three times in the last two years..once at Home Depot..a Doberman came for me and my dog and I knocked over a cash register and escaped.. the owner of the dog nonchalantly called his dog off no apology no nothing…the other incidence were similar except the other two dogs drew blood.. one bit my wifes hand and the other tore into my poodle and lacerated her back…What gives…these animals are scarey.. many of their owners seem to have a secret satisfaction in scaring the crap out of us..I say enough is enough…these animals are as deadly as guns and the owners of such beasts that allow them to harm others should be treated as the criminals they are… assault with a deadly weapon…police..lawmakers.. animal control ..lets do your job.. protect the public.. everytime I see an aggressive dog I’m scared to death,, I was attacked by a doberman when I was 10 years old and he lacerated my leg.. after that I carried a pellet gun where ever I went…what ever loop hole that has allowed these beasts to harm us must be closed..owners of aggressive dogs need to be scared to death of letting these killers loose… let’s do it let’s do it now…
I didn’t.. from what I understand unless someone is almost killed…the authorities just say ..please keep your dog on a leash and some nominal fine.. my point is I would like to see some tough laws to control this problem..

Summary: These North Carolina statutes comprise the state’s dangerous dog and dog bite laws. Among the provisions include misdemeanor penalties for an owner if a dangerous dog attacks a person and causes physical injuries requiring medical treatment in excess of one hundred dollars ($100.00) and strict liability in civil damages for any injuries or property damage the dog inflicts upon a person, his property, or another animal. Another statute provides that any person brought to receive medical treatment for a dog bite must report it to the local health director and the animal must be confined for a ten day observation period.
In my mind this law is not much of a deterrent. What’s the difference between harming someone with a dog or harming someone with a gun.. both are lethal and the owner of said
property is responsible for any harm that property might cause..think about it.. if a dog maimed your child wouldn’t you like to see the owner of the dog be held criminally responsible?
Did the goombah dog owner of the dog who attacked you have their dog on a leash? If not, you have every right to give him or her a verbal dressing down. I suspect the attacking dog’s owners probably have kids who run amok the same way.
You have every right to kill the animal attacking you if you are able. If it’s a matter of life or death it’s not really a choice.
My neighbors big swarthy mutt got out and killed our beloved Boston Terrier in the yard with my son watching every bit of it. I was too late to stop it but the owner got the option of putting it down or getting rid of it or I’d do it for him (it wasn’t the first time it displayed aggressive tendencies).
I know it’s not the dogs fault (usually) but there’s really no place in public for aggressive dogs.
There ARE leash laws - state, county, and city. However, the law enforcement/ animal control offices don’t seem too interested in enforcing them. I’ve called numerous times to report dogs habitually off leash and troublesome. No response…
One night a uniformed APD had her dog out for a potty walk - off leash - in city limits. Her dog charged me and my dogs (leashed) from across the street. When I said I knew that she was aware of the leash laws, she got ugly - another fine example of APD law enforcement.
It seems as though there are increased numbers of dog attacks. Is there a correlation to the the disregard for the leash laws? What does it take for the the laws to be enforced?
To the poster who was bitten:
The laws require report of animal bites. If, heavens forbid, it ever happens again, PLEASE call 911. Take pictures on your cell phone and if possible get information. When these dogs are not controlled their owners are accountable.
Call the Humane Society or whoever is in charge of that. That’s 100% animal cruelty and needs to be rectified. Even with the window down half way the car temp can easily reach 100 degrees and then some.

Did you get her name and badge number and report her?
